Digital Dentures

Digital Dentures at Parkside Dental

At Parkside Dental, we specialize in creating high-quality dentures. By blending traditional denture craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital technology, we offer precision-fit, digitally designed dentures through a hybrid conventional/digital impression workflow that Dr. Alex W. Broesder has termed ASAP impressions. This innovative approach ensures you receive the best fit and comfort by integrating the latest digital advancements with tried-and-true methods.

Benefits of Digital Dentures

  • Precision Fit: Digitally designed dentures offer superior fit and comfort compared to traditional methods.
  • Faster Turnaround: Our in-house lab, led by Dr. Alex W. Broesder, allows us to produce your dentures quickly without compromising quality. They are made in-house and designed by Dr. Broesder himself.
  • Durability: Our dentures are made from solid PMMA, ensuring a robust and long-lasting product.
  • Replacements: If your denture is lost or damaged, we can simply remill your denture from our digital files, ensuring you always have a backup.
  • Exact Replication: For those who already have a fantastic denture and want an exact replica, we can create an exact clone, a service guaranteed not to be found elsewhere. Trust me, I looked everywhere for a lab that offered this capability before creating my own.

Comparison to Traditional Denture Methods

Milled Dentures:

Milled dentures are created from a solid PMMA puck, ensuring a more durable and precise fit. When in production, our mills follow an extremely precise workflow that guarantees no post-processing errors.

Traditional Dentures:

Traditional dentures are typically made by using liquid polymers. This process can result in polymerization shrinkage, leading to less consistent quality, introduction of errors, and loss of durability.

Our Workflow

  1. Consultation Appointment: We begin by duplicating your existing denture if available, or by getting a 3D digital scan of your gums.
  2. ASAP Impression: Utilizing your duplicated denture or using a custom tray, we take a wash impression to capture the precise details of your gums, ridges, and oral muscles. This impression is then digitized and combined with other captured data.
  3. Monolithic Try-In: We then try in an acrylic 3D printed denture. This step can be repeated as many times as needed to ensure the esthetics and fit meet your expectations, although 3D printing is not quite as precise as milling, as such the fi t won’t be exact, but very very close.
  4. Final Delivery: Once approved by you, we create and deliver you your final denture. Rarely are adjustments needed due to our precise digital design process. But in the off chance you do need some modifications after delivery, some adjustments are included.

Implant Overdentures

At Parkside Dental, we offer implant overdentures for enhanced stability and comfort. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), a minimum of two lower dental implants is recommended as the Standard of Care to secure a lower denture. Implants significantly enhance the retention a nd function of our digital dentures.

  • Enhanced Stability: Implant overdentures are anchored by implants, providing greater stability than traditional dentures. Without implant retention, your tongue can dislodge your lower denture, leading to discomfort and inconvenience.
  • Improved Comfort: Supported by implants, overdentures minimize irritation and sore spots that often occur with unsupported dentures. Even our precise digital dentures can cause gum sores when not supported by implants.
  • Better Function: Overdentures restore more of your natural chewing ability, making it easier to eat a variety of foods. Research indicates that an unsupported traditional denture replaces less than 10% of your original chewing capacity. By adding just two implants, this capacity increases to over 60%.
  • Bone Preservation: Dental implants help stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that typically occurs with missing teeth. One of the most significant downsides to unsupported dentures is eventual bone shrinkage, which can make wearing dentures impossible over time. Implants prevent this issue, ensuring long-term oral health and functionality.

F.A.Qs

Teeth play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the jawbone. When teeth are present, they stimulate the bone through everyday activities like chewing. This keeps the bone strong and healthy. But when teeth are missing, the bone no longer receives that stimulation and begins to shrink, or resorb, over time.

Over the years, this loss of bone can lead to changes in facial structure, giving the appearance of a sunken or aged look. This is why it’s so important to consider long-term solutions like dental implants. Unlike dentures or partials, dental implants integrate with the bone, acting just like natural teeth. They prevent bone loss and restore both functionality and appearance.

Many people believe that getting a partial to replace a single missing tooth or opting for traditional dentures to replace all their teeth is a sufficient long-term solution. While these options can improve your appearance and help with smiling, they are not designed to provide the permanent functionality of natural teeth.

Dentures and partials are great for aesthetics but fall short when it comes to chewing efficiency and maintaining long-term oral health. Over time, they may also contribute to jawbone shrinkage since they don’t provide the stimulation natural teeth or implants do. For a more durable and functional solution, dental implants are worth considering.

Dental implants are designed to function like natural teeth. They integrate with the jawbone, preventing bone loss and providing unmatched stability for chewing. Unlike traditional dentures, which can slip or cause discomfort, implants offer a permanent, durable solution that restores your smile and oral function.

Delaying tooth replacement can lead to complications such as jawbone resorption, shifting of surrounding teeth, and difficulty chewing. Over time, these issues can make replacement options more complex or costly. Replacing missing teeth promptly with dental implants or other solutions helps avoid these complications and protects your oral health
